Welcome
to our website
On
these pages I have tried to bring together information which has
been gathered about our families, by our families, for our families.
Richard
and I are second cousins, as well as being married, which means
that there is some interesting overlapping in our family trees;
for example, our children are not only brothers and sisters, but
also third cousins to each other.
We
first talked about researching the family history in 1990, but it
wasn't until early in 2007 that the project really took off.

I was fortunate to have access to some material collected by our
parents: photographs, birth certificates, copies of census records
and other interesting documentation including the recorded and transcribed
memoirs of my grandparents which I have scanned into these pages.
In
the summer of 2007, Dad and I travelled to Zeeland, in the Netherlands,
to visit the homeland of the Terelincks/ Teirlincks. It was a fascinating
trip; however it was sad to discover that the villages where Sebastian
and Jacobus were born (Philippine and Westdorpe, respectively) had
been flattened in bombing raids during WW2. They were re-built after
the war, but the earlier churches and graveyards which we had hoped
to visit were gone.
|
We
did some research in the Zeeuws Archief in Middelburg and discovered
that many records had also been destroyed during the bombing, making
it unlikely that we would be able to make any solid links further
back than Pieter Teirlinck.
If
you stumble across this site and think your family tree may be linked
to ours, or if you have further information which you would be willing
to share, please click
or use the FORUM. I'd also like to hear from you if you think I've
got something wrong! I will continue to update the site as new information
comes to light, so please re-visit occasionally to see what's new.
I hope you enjoy the website.
